100 most popular girls’ names in 2018

The top 10 most popular girls’ names have remained pretty similar to the top 10 most popular girls’ names of 2017. Non-movers include Olivia holding on to the top spot with Amelia still at number 2 and Ava sticking at number 5.

There have been some new entries in the top 10 in 2018 as Mia climbs 5 places to number 7 and Isabella in at number 9.

Highest climbing baby girls names so far in 2018

Some more unusual names are taking the charts by storm and are rising significantly in popularity. Hallie is up a massive 44 places to position 86. Aurora is also on the rise up 53 places to position 82. Edie is a new entry into the Top 100 at 98.

Is there a new trend in baby girls names emerging?

Girls names to watch out for this year include 'old lady' but edgy names making their way back to popularity with names like Ada as a new entry in the top 100 at number 74 up an incredible 60 places and Bonnie up 11 places to 77. Julia is also making a comeback up 16 places to become a new entry in the top 100 most popular girls’ names at position 93.

Edgier names are also on the rise including Myla which is up 31 places to break into the top 100 at 97 and Nevaeh is another new entry at 84 up 30 places. Traditional names like Clara and Arabella are also trending this year.

Baby girls names that are on the decline

If you’re looking for a less common name that your little one won’t need to share with several others in the classroom, there’s a selection of names on the decline that could fit the bill for your little lady.

Once popular names Amy and Jasmine have dropped more than 30 places each and are no longer close to being in the top 100. Other outsiders that don’t make the top 100 most popular names include Eden, Ariana, Harley, Autumn, Skyla and Elise.

Also, set to disappear out of the top 100 names in 2018 are once very popular names Maddison and Megan which are just holding on at 99 and 100 have both dropped more than 10 places each.
