Elf on a Shelf all wrapped up for Christmas
The Elf on a Shelf phenomenon is back and if you need inspiration to help children believe their Elf is keeping a watchful eye and making sure the children belong on Santa's 'nice list', look no further
24 Elf on a Shelf antics
- The idea is your Elf creates mischief overnight throughout December, while keeping a watchful eye on children in the house, making sure they are good, and don't forget, children can't move the Elf or his magic disappears...
This is another American classic that has made its way across the ocean and now many of our children have their very own Elf on a Shelf to entertain them every morning through the month of December.
The idea is your Elf creates mischief overnight throughout December, while keeping a watchful eye on children in the house, making sure they are good, and don't forget, children can't move the Elf or his magic disappears...
This ‘fun’ American tradition is not quite so fun for parents who have the task of not only remembering to put the Elf somewhere each night for their little one to find, after the Elf flies to the North Pole each night to tell Santa whether the children in the house have been good, but coming up with 24, yes 24, ingenious ideas to place the little rascals isn't always easy.
Panic not, here are 24 ideas to get you through the month.
1 December
Easy one, it’s the day your little Elf appears, so where better for him to arrive then on a shelf, naturally.
2 December
Why not sit your Elf in front of your games consol playing a game and maybe with some crisps crumbs all over the sofa….naughty Elf!
3 December
Your Elf could be sat at the table with a notepad and pen with a half written letter to Santa about all the mischief he is causing!
4 December
Having a shower is always a good one, particularly if you can find a really small brush for your Elf to be found in the morning scrubbing his back!
5 December
Sat in the fridge with some half eaten cheese is the sort of cheeky thing your Elf may get up to.
6 December
Sat at the computer keyboard with a website up about the best Elf names!
7 December
Time to bake a cake, have your Elf hanging off a wooden spoon in a bowl with flour everywhere. (Or as much mess as you can stand!)
8 December
If your little one sleeps heavily enough, pop in and place the Elf on their pillow, that will be a nice surprise in the morning.
9 December
Tonight may be a good night to leave your Elf with the remote watching TV (obviously don’t leave the TV on all night, creep down before your little ones to turn it back on!)
10 December
You could leave your Elf curled up in the dog or cat basket, if your pet will allow it!
11 December
When you really have the energy to go town, why not create little Elf footprints going upstairs and find your Elf asleep in your bed.
12 December
A little raid on the biscuit tin may be in order tonight with a crumb trail for your little one to find.
13 December
Ah a hot bubble bath may be the way to go and if you have a little boat he could sit in, all the better.
14 December
Buried in a pile of washing is another cheeky thing your Elf is bound to get up to.
15 December
And how about a delve into mum’s make up bag for a bit of face painting, always a classic!
16 December
A little trip into the garden maybe a fun idea and the cheeky little Elf may even be hiding in the flower bed covered in mud. (Get that washing machine ready!)
17 December
Your little Elf can climb the Christmas tree, possibly moving a couple of decorations around, just to add a tad more mischief!
18 December
Now having messed with the Christmas tree, it’s time our little Elf messed with the Christmas presents under it. Not opening gifts (we don’t want to encourage our kids to do that!) but maybe hiding under a bow…
19 December
Perhaps he is found in the kitchen sink full of water with all your little one’s bath toys and bubbles that are set to overflow any minute, phew, thank goodness you got there when you did. (wink wink!)
20 December
Stay with us, we’re nearly there now and don’t forget how excited your little ones are to find them each morning, dipping into your little one’s advent calendar with chocolate round his face is a good one.
21 December
My personal favourite! If you have a printer at home, place the Elf on the panel and printout pictures of his bottom!
22 December
His time causing chaos is nearly at an end, have him with your smart phone and when your little one checks the camera roll, there will be 50 + selfies of your Elf for your little ones to giggle at!
23 December
It’s getting close to Christmas, and your naughty little Elf will be going tomorrow night, so he may need a little glass of milk and cheeky mince pie tonight to keep his strength up for the journey, in front of the TV with a snuggly blanket, of course!
24 December
Ah your little Elf is about to return to Lapland with Father Christmas, so perhaps on his last night with you, it may be nice for your little one to find him under the Christmas tree with a little gift and a note to your child saying what a fun time he has had and he will be back next year. And you can rest easy with another 11 months before you have to go through this all again!
