The Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, has been announced as reading the CBeebies Bedtime Story on Sunday 13th February.

The popular CBeebies slot is no stranger to celebs reading to the nation’s children, but now they are truly going royal.

This week marks Children’s Mental Health Week and the Duchess will end the week with a special reading of her chosen children’s book that is said to be in-keeping with the theme of the week which is ‘growing together’.

The aim of this year’s awareness week is to encourage children and adults to think about how they have grown emotionally, recognising that trying new things can help people move beyond their comfort zones, and that challenges and setbacks can help them to mature and adapt.

The Duchess will read The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson and tells the sweet tale of a baby barn owl, Plop who grows in confidence and overcomes fears through the help of others.

Patricia Hidalgo, Director of BBC Children’s and Education said: “I couldn’t be more proud to have The Duchess read a CBeebies Bedtime Story as we mark the 20th anniversary of our CBeebies and CBBC channels. It’s such a special and relevant tale and perfectly represents this years’ Children’s Mental Health week theme. I can’t wait to see her deliver her own take on such a classic story and I’m sure our audience can’t either.”

Don’t miss the Duchess of Cambridge on CBeebies that will air at 6.40pm on Sunday 13th February.
