Bake Off inspired baby names
We’ve been inspired by the GBBO to create a list of baby names that could lead your child on to delicious things!
The Great British Bake Off first hit our screens in 2010 and has since gone on to become a national phenomenon, taking over people’s Wednesday nights and inspiring delicious bakes all over the country. The series has gone on to win multiple awards and a place in the hearts of the British public. With so much success and love, we’ve put together a list of baby names inspired by the Bake Off.
Girl’s name: Victoria
The Victoria sponge is the most classic of all bakes, consisting of deliciously moist sponge sandwiched together with raspberry jam and dusted with caster sugar. This quintessential English teatime favourite became popular during the reign of Queen Victoria who apparently was partial to a bit of cake with her tea. Not only will your baby girl be named after something delicious, she’ll share a name with a Queen of England! See more girl’s baby names at Bounty.com.
Boy’s name: Paul
Paul’s bread making skills have elevated him to one of the UK’s best known celebrity chefs. Although a more common name in the 1960s and 1970s, combine this with the last name ‘Hollywood’ and you’ve just escalated the name into star quality. Sam Faiers known for starring in TOWIE also called her son Paul in 2015.
Girl’s names: Mel and Sue
The Bake Off wouldn’t be the same without the witty banter, puns, and double-entendres of hosts Mel and Sue. Their innuendoes are second to none, tailored to British humour to make the public love the show even more. Not only that, but they get to taste all the bakes of the contestants – a job where you get to eat cake every day; we’re sold! Boy’s name: Selasi
Series 7 of the GBBO has been taken over by banker and baker Selasi Gbormittah. The official heart-throb of the new series, our knees have gone weak over his looks, charm, and mouth-watering bakes. He never loses his cool, staying and calm and collected even in the face of under-baked biscuits and breads with soggy bottoms. Heart-throb, banker and baker, we’ve definitely been inspired.
Girl’s name: Nadia
There wasn’t a dry eye in the house when Nadia was crowned the queen of the Great British Bake Off Season 6. The flavours in her bakes were on point, but what really won us over was her beautipersonality. Since winning she’s gone on to cook a cake for the Queen’s 90th birthday celebrations. Named as one of the 550 most influential people in the UK in 2016, the name is a popular Russian baby name along with Tanya, Irina and Tatiana.
