Girls Name Predictions for 2016
So far this year we’ve had some stubborn non-movers with the top 5 girls names staying put:

Currently ranking number 6 however is 2015’s highest climber ‘Ella’ moving up 63% since 2014. If any name is going to finally shake things up in the top 5 we’re predicting it’s going to be Ella. This name has become a popular variant of names such as Eleanor and Isabella and has been rising steadily since the 2000’s, could we see it take top spot in 2016?
Girls names climbing the top 100
The top 10 girls name may be hard to shift but these 10 names are strong contenders, steadily climbing up the top 100 rank over the past year:

It’s been said before and we’ll say it again - it really does look like old lady names are here to stay, with Florence, Elsie and Thea all taking up poll positions.
Ones to watch
Girls names ending in vows such as Esmae and Aurora look to be a trend for 2016, with all 10 of our highest climbers that our quickly heading towards the top 100 ending in ‘A’ or ‘E’. This includes alternative spelling of top ranking name Amelia -suggesting we can expect a few more alternative spellings of already high ranking names in 2016 also.
