The top 100 boys names of 2017
Check out the most popular names given to boys so far in 2017
Our top 100 list of baby names for boys shows some interesting trends.
Year on year there’s no change at all in the Top 3 boys' names – Oliver, Harry and Jack. Noah is climbing the charts (up 3) to 4th position having knocked Charlie (down 2 positions) to number 6. Freddie is also (up 2 places) to number 8.
But Jacob, Alfie and Oscar all drop down a place and will struggle to hold their Top 10 spots this year as they face strong competition from Theo and Logan (up 5 places each) to 14th and 16th position respectively.
Highest climbing
Carter is the ‘outsider’ name that’s fast climbing the ranks (up 21 places) to 46 in the Top 100. Hunter is (up 30 places) now at 72 in the charts and entering the list for the first time, we have Grayson at 100 (also up 30 places).
Hugo has climbed (up 10 places) to number 52 and Teddy continuing to climb the ranks in at 27.
The stand-out highest climbers so far in 2017 include Bobby (up 17 places), Arlo (up 13 places).
On the decline
Paying the price of their newfound popularity is the name ‘Tommy’ (down 10 places to 50).
Names that are becoming less popular in 2017 include Luke (down 16 places), Jayden (down 13 places) and Zachary (down 12 places). These once common and fashionable names are falling from favour with UK parents this year.
